COLORQUEST™
A System Of Self-Reinvention Through Color
A System Of Self-Reinvention Through Color
Color As Language
Color is not decoration. It's a language. And this I know: You already speak it. Some colors instinctively make you come alive and buy everything you can find in that color. Others repel you (or you know you look dead-ish wearing them.) Some are your go-to for everything. And you may be proficient in all the shades of beige (like some of my besties), or, not care about beige at all! So, ColorQuest™ is a framework that turns that instinct into insight. But it didn't start as a system. It started as a memory.
The Time Capsule
A time capsule was inserted in my brain in what seemed like an ordinary Art History class. The “activation key” was a three-part sentence: "The white dove, the red rose, the black spider." Or was it "the black crow"?
Sixteen years later, I'm teaching Color Symbolism. In my notes I wrote: "White dove, white sugar, white tissue. Red rose, red lips, red heart. Black spider, black crow, black widow, black witch."
Bang.
Where did that come from?
These notes weren't research or imagination. They came from a deep place of memory.
The research was on.
